It may well be the oldest surviving bug in India, with stiff competition from the one in Hegde's collection which I think is a 1955 |
If my memory serves me right, the Bombay Oval convertible is a 1957, right?
And the Dharmasthala Bug is a 1955?
Which would make the Dharmasthala Oval sedan the oldest bug, and the Bombay Oval the oldest convertible?
ca. 1930. Not sure if this was posted before.

Very nice! No we know which movie this shot was from. Harit had posted (parts of) a photo
here. The car is maybe an MG or more likely a Riley. One can see more pictures of Sabita Devi in preceeding posts on the link shared.
Dear Members,
Just in case you were wondering, it was my 54 Dodge Kingsway that appeared in the movie 'Bombay Velvet' during its shooting in Sri Lanka.

What a pretty car. Was there any assembly plant in Sri Lanka for Dodge/Chrysler products? Indian market Dodges of the era were assembled in Bombay.
Do share some more pictures of the other cars used in the shoot too.
Apologies if this was shared here before but which is this one? Just curious.
Appeared in
Devasuram, a 1993 Malayalam movie. Took a snapshot in VLC player.

Big B has been known for owning some exotic machines. I for sure know that at some point in 70's/80's he owned a Ford Mustang, Camaro, VW Bus, Karmann Ghia, Jaguar, Land Rover, bunch of S class Merc's etc. As a matter of fact he himself use to drive most of these cars and friends have also seen him dropping Jr. B in his Camper to Jamnabai School.

Jr B was first in Bombay Scottish my Batchmate (not classmate) he would be dropped and picked up by Amitabh himself along with other kids from the Juhu area. Indeed it was a camper! cant remember but biscuit coloured but definitely a bay window and not split window. Subsequently Small B was moved out of Bombay Scottish after the 5th grade or so. Don't know if he went to Jamnabai or sent abroad for schooling.
