The Blue Beauty is now back in pristine condition and is often exhibited in Trivandrum Lulu Mall. Car is now owned by the Lulu Group.

Have they? That is such an off beat purchase for a group that is not 'particularly' enthusiast oriented. Haven't yet seen it at the mall.

Last time I saw the car was circle 2003-04 at a car show at Kanakakkunu grounds. Used to wondered what all those badges were before reading in a newspaper that those were badges for each 100k kms done.

It had gone to a prominent person in South Canara/Mangalore. Probably the Lulu Group bought this off him 1) to help that person with is current issues 2) to bring back a heritage of Trivandrum as a gift for Trivandrum on occasion of their big set up here.

Car is fully in nearly new condition after a "nothing spared" restoration including massive amounts of imports from Merc Germany. Majority of mechanical works were done at the Mercedes Authorised Dealers establishment in Trivandrum

So true. A Mercedes sedan with the 3 pointed star hood ornament imparts the Quintessential "I've made it in life" feeling to the owners

Hahaha, I have a desi friend who is old-school and loves to see that Mercedes emblem standing proud on his bonnet. Some years back, when he was trading in his faithful C class for another, he realised to his dismay that Mercedes had done away with the traditional (cage like) grille and the hood ornament!
All C class models were available only with the new, big sports grille with a pizza sized emblem on a disc in the middle, which he hated.
He finally managed to locate one car from a previous shipment with the traditional grille and hood ornament. The icing on the cake was that he got a huge discount as the dealer desperately wanted to get rid of the non-moving stock.

Never, E220 and E250D were the only w124 models assembled in TELCO plant in Pune
