A lovely shot of United Motors Lucknow, dealers for Fiat and Studebaker. Kindly shared by the Fiat archives.

Don't miss the convertible Stude with a frame less windscreen - must have been a special model.

Superb artwork on the cover of a 1942 Telephone Directory - advertising Packard cars by dealers Dadajee Dhackjee.

The premises were advertised as 'exclusively air-conditioned' - and I believe just a bit before this, the first air conditioned cars too were Packards.

Re: Dealerships, Coachbuilders, Vehicle Assembly in India

As we know, Premier Automobiles sold Dodge, DeSoto and Plymouth models which were virtually identical except for minor cosmetics and the badge. An interesting insight is that dealers were likely to have been different for each brand, as mentioned here - Dodge cars by Addison, and Plymouth via TVS

Even for Bombay we have seen that Dodge cars were sold by Bombay Cycle, but Plymouth by another dealer (I forget now - maybe Car Mart?) and DeSoto by S.Guevrek. Over to the seniors who hopefully will share from first hand experience.
