Sportscraft Classic Drive to Lonavala: 6th December.

A letter of communication from Sportscraft.

Quote:
Hi,

We are organizing a drive on Sunday 6th December 2009 for all 4 – wheeler vehicles manufactured before 1960. The drive is sponsored by CarWale.com and hospitality partners are Dukes Retreat - Khandala

It is just a drive without any winning or losing – with objective to motivate you owners of these old beauties to take your cars out and meet like-minded people over a brunch.

The drive could commence from New – Mumbai – Nerul by around 8:30 a.m. and conclude at Dukes Retreat Khandala over brunch.

For logistic reasons we will accept maximum of 40 entries for the drive on first come basis.

A fee of Rs. 1500/- will be per entry. Three coupons for brunch would be given per car.

The last date for accepting the entries would be Thursday 3rd December 2009.

Please do call us on 022-23677631 from 10:00 a.m. – 5.m between Monday to Friday and on Saturday till 1:00p.m for details

Or you could write to us at sportscraft@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing you all with your prize possession for the drive.

With Warm Regards,
Shrikant Karani.

Sounds like it has a potential to be a fun event.

Though, if its a sponsored drive why is there a participation fee (that too a fairly high one) ?

Are they going to offer a breakdown service? Well I had a nasty time getting my car towed back to Bombay when she broke down on the expressway the last time round.

, I guess this would cover the cost of mailing letters and the lunch at Dukes. They probably have buffet at 500 bucks a head .
Might take two cars for the drive or a drive on their own. Not sure yet.

I'm sure they can make an exception for your beautiful Beetle, why don't you call them and try?

Maybe I will join them in my 1956 Fiat whilst on my way back from Poona. Not sure though if they will allow that we'll see. I'll call them up. Anyone else going?

Sportscraft Vintage Rally postponed

Received the following by email today from the organisers of Sportscraft Vintage Rally to Lonavla, regarding change of event date and rules...

Quote:
Due to Ambedkar Punyatithi on the 6th December we have been compelled to change the date of the Vintage Drive.

The drive will now be on the 20th December.

The Drive will start from Four Points - New Mumbai and finish at Dukes Retreat.

There is a slight change in acceptance of entries. Apart from all vehicles before 1960, we will accept entries for classic vehicles after 1960 only on selection basis.

The black and white Packard clipper looks like speedy's car.

@speedy-could you tell us more about this event?
