Some nice pictures (though some are repeats in the forum). It was nice to see the Keral Police in the "bra-knicker" uniform

The picture of Panampally Nagar - it must be post 1971. The Area was name Panampally Nagar in late 1970 or early 1971, to honour Mr. Pamanmpally Govinda Menon, Uninon Minister of Railways, who passed away in 1970.

I think you are right. This pic must have been shot in the 70s. My parents have been staying in this neighborhood from 1968 (I was not born then). But even during the end of 70s Panampilly Nagar was mostly marsh land with very few houses. I remember that. I was 4 yrs old then .

This street in Pune (Dastur Meher Road) is virtually unchanged from WW1. All the buildings are still standing, most in fairly good condition. Dorabjee restaurant still cooks over a coal fire, and serves a mean Dhansak. Jimmy lodge is also around, as is dear Jimmy uncle. He still drives his faithful 1957 powder blue Fiat that he bought in the 70s.

Going through the source took me to the site (dedicated to Meher Baba) showing these gems

I can't immediately identify the car, but the bonnet 'sashes' should be a tell tale sign. Auburn perhaps?

Good spotting Karl. Indeed seems to be a 1934 Auburn 652.

A view of the Eros cinema hall, Mumbai from the 1970's. The picture being screened was " The Omega Man."

Another picture of a scene not from the past, but from the present showing the future times to come, with all the Padmini taxis being scrapped one by one.

It certainly looks like an early generation Tata (?) M-B.

A battered 'Fifties Mercedes Benz chassis.

Rebodied perhaps.Quite interestingly, at that. Oh yes, and the bonnet is missing. Perhaps the OM312 was already suffering from overheating issues by then...?

The 'Super Seventies must have been quite a time to live in, no?

The Fiat 1100 Delight Taxies at their prime. The cars seem oh-so-petite!

The taxis in these pictures are imports and an Amnbassador can also be seen. They have black digits painted in a white background (pre June 1, 1989).
The bus/van is a Tata Mercedes Benz Forward Control of the oldest kind in India (later sometime in 1966 they had introduced the 1210 with a higher ground clearence and some other changes). This gave way to a newer model soon after the TMB marque changed over to Telco. There were no such 1210 FC trucks, buses with the Telco logo, but all these had the three pointed star. It was with the newer model that the Telco logo first appeared.
