This time, it doesn't have much to do with the Maruti brand. Except for Skoda, gave equal weightage to all cars in the range, and nothing else appealed to the heart other than swift and punto. (And a dream of an used civic). Figo, polo, beat, vista, manza, dzire, i20, fiesta classic etc, all in their diesel avatar didn't appeal to the heart, no offence meant to anyone. The only other car that I would want to buy is Vento diesel, but its way above my budget.

Had to reject Punto because of personal reasons (most important being turning radius and outright feeling of power and fiat) that I still debate, and booked swift. Its mainly Punto looks that makes me have second thoughts. Long waiting period gives me more time to flirt with other cars. :-P Waiting period is not a big issue because we are not in a hurry to purchase soon, and would like jan '12. Looks like march or april would be more realistic.

PS: Infact, have booked appointment for Punto 90HP test drive coming thursday too. With Punto, I also need to retain the old wagonR for parents.

PS 2: I'm bit sceptical about Maruti's future too, with the labour issues and competition like eon.

Congratulations on the Linea. the colour chosen is the most appropriate for the Linea. Is the discount offered in line in what is being advertised in the recent Linea ads?

Good to know that Team BHP forum has helped you finalize the car, thats the beauty of this forum and the greatness of the members. All the best, hope to read the ownership reviews very soon with lots of pics.

Thank you very much bluevolt. The reason is a decent amount of price save. I will explain:

Gurgaon Chandigarh
Ex Showroom 9.82 9.80
Depot Charges+
Temp Reg 7500 000
Insurance 36K 36K
Registration 42K arnd 30K
Corp Disc -16K -16K

So all in all around 25K savings. Plus I really like the registration procedure in CHD. They very proffesional from Government official standard.s You get an electronic RC the same day if you reach timely to the office.

Hey I was you have moved to Gurgaon these days.

YeY !!!

I saw her today. She looked fantastic. No problems observed to my layman eyes. Odo showed 45km, which is fair. Got the VIN yesterday itself, and was decoded to Sept 2011. Handed over docs for regn, plus some interim payment. If all goes well, she is mine on Monday. Thanks, everyone for wishes & advices, and Hirak in particular. Will keep you all updated, may be in a separate thread.

Regards,
Venu

Booked a 320D Exclusive. Space Grey with Saddle Brown interiors. Expected by Monday or Tuesday.

Have you guys noticed that when you book a car till the time you get it, you start seeing lots of the same model that you have booked on the road?

Congrats Akshay on buying the beemer !!!
You are absolutely right the road seems to be full with the exact same model and color car which we buy. Happened to me too with my i20.
I guess it is because we are really excited about the new car and imagine how we will drive the car !! Enjoy the beast !!

Congratulations guys on the Diesel rides. I guess it make sense in the current situation to opt for a diesel car looking at the petrol prices. Hope to read your ownership reviews soon on the forum with lots of pics.

re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Make : Maruti Suzuki
Model : Alto K10
Variant : VXi
Fuel : Petrol
Booking Date : 26-Sep-2011
Colour : Silky Silver
Expected Delivery Date : 03-Oct-2011
Dealer & City : Khivraj Motors, 623 Mount Road, Thousand Lights, Madras 600006.

Discounts : Exchange bonus 15k (for my Maruti 800), cash discount of 10k (plus 5k because I was personally referred by my friend who had recently bought a K10 from the same dealer and sales executive), corporate discount 2.5k (Maruti listed corporate).

Freebies : Garware sun film (I getting 3M instead and have agreed to pay the difference amount), floor mats, mud flaps, body cover, steering wheel cover, reverse horn (very particularly - no annoying music, I only want the one with beeps), Teflon coating (I have specifically asked them not to do this, and I will not get anything else in exchange. That's ok!).

The initial visit, test drive, True Value-ation of my 1999 M800, and booking experience were very good overall. The sales executive was genuine, accommodating and very courteous. Absolutely no slacking, no indifference and no laid back attitude which you might normally expect while booking an "anyways, its India's highest selling and it will sell no matter what" car. I could establish an excellent rapport with the SE, on a personal level as well to an extent.

Let's Go!
