2018 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar get performance upgrades

Polestar, the performance division of Volvo cars has unveiled the 2018 models of Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar. A combined total of 1,500 units of both these models will be produced.

The 2018 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar now get a carbon-fibre aerodynamic exterior package that includes a front splitter, side skirts and a rear spoiler. Polestar claims that these changes will improve the downforce by over 30 percent. This package has been developed along with Polestar's motorsport partner, Cyan Racing. Other changes to the exterior include 20-inch black diamond-cut wheels, carbon-fibre door mirrors and a new paint option called as the Bursting Blue Metallic.

Interior changes include a new seat upholstery which will have the contrast blue stitching and Polestar embossing on them like the previous model. The door sills will get a unique numbering for all the 1,500 cars produced. The company claims that as compared to the standard Volvo S60 and V60 models, over 250 components have been changed in the 2018 Polestar models.

In terms of mechanical changes, the 2018 models come with adjustable Ohlins shock absorber system and six-piston Brembo brake calipers with 371 mm discs at the front and 302 mm at the rear. The 2018 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar continue to be powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine that makes 362 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 470 Nm @ 3,100-5,100 rpm. Polestar claims the 0-100 km/h times of both the cars to be 4.7 seconds and 4.8 seconds respectively with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
