2020 Toyota Corolla sedan spotted testing in the US

Toyota unveiled the 12th generation Corolla hatchback at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. Now, spy images of the new Corolla sedan have surfaced online.

The test mules of the 2020 Toyota Corolla sedan were spotted in the US. The new model will use Toyota's TNGA modular platform, which also underpins the Camry and Prius. The spy images suggest that the sedan is likely to receive similar design updates to the hatchback. The front features a large honeycomb mesh grille with L-shaped headlights placed on top. Toyota has added front quarter glasses, and the C-pillars have been redesigned and now features a larger rear quarter glasses. The car has a coupe-like roofline with a shark-fin antenna on top. At the rear, there is a pair of wraparound tail light clusters.

The Corolla sedan is likely to get similar interiors to the hatchback. The dashboard has a dual-tone design with a large floating touchscreen in the centre, a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a 3-pod instrument cluster. A silver trim piece runs along the length of the dashboard and wraps around the air vents.

In the US market, the new Corolla is expected to get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a choice of a 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT).

There is no word about the new Corolla making its way into the Indian market at present.
