2023 Mercedes EQE SUV globally unveiled

The Mercedes EQE SUV will be built at the company's plant in the USA and is expected to go on sale sometime next year.

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the new EQE SUV for the global market.

The new Mercedes EQE SUV is the fourth model to be underpinned by the brand's bespoke EV platform. It measures 4,863 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width and 1,686 mm in height. This makes it taller and wider than its sedan counterpart, translating to better cabin space for the passengers. The EQE SUV does have a 90 mm shorter wheelbase compared to the EQE sedan.

In terms of design, the EQE SUV looks very similar to its larger flagship sibling, the EQS. However, the EQE does come with a few elements, which help make it stand out. The front fascia on the EQE SUV is similar to that of the sedan, especially the shape of the headlights. The car also gets an LED light bar at the back, large alloy wheels and an overall aerodynamic body profile, in line with the rest of the EQ models.

Inside, the EQE SUV looks identical to the EQS SUV. It comes with Mercedes' Hyperscreen integrating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display and an additional screen for the front passenger. The EQE also comes packed with most of the connectivity tech and comfort & convenience features.

The Mercedes EQE SUV will be offered in four variants: EQE 350+ with a rear-wheel-drive system & EQE 350 4Matic, both with 288 BHP, a EQE 500 4Matic with 536 BHP and the range-topping AMG EQE 53. The EQE will have a maximum range of 550 km on a single charge. All variants get the same 90 kWh battery pack with fast-charging capability, allowing for 10 - 80% charge in 32 minutes. Mercedes will offer an 11 kW onboard charger as standard, which can be upgraded to a 22 kW unit.

The range-topping Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic is said to offer 677 BHP of maximum power output with the AMG Dynamic Plus pack. The EQE 53 also comes with AMG-specific bits like a sporty exterior pack, 21 and 22-inch alloys and more. The AMG EQE 53 is said to be capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 in a little over 3 seconds and has a top speed of 239 km/h.

The Mercedes EQE SUV will be built at the company's plant in the USA and is expected to go on sale sometime next year. Prices for the EQE SUV will be announced at a later date.
