4th-gen Hyundai Tucson unveiled

The new Tucson comes with petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.

Hyundai has unveiled the fourth generation Tucson. The SUV will be offered in long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase guise in the global market.

The fourth generation Tucson gets a completely new exterior. Hyundai refers to it as "Parametric dynamics" with kinetic jewel surfaces. The car gets new front fascia that has half-mirror type daytime running lights that are integrated into the parametric grille. At the rear, it features a full-width LED light bar with triangular tail lamp clusters. The Hyundai logo is integrated into the rear glass while the rear wiper is concealed under the rear spoiler.

The interior of the new Tucson features a large centre fascia with dual 10.25-inch touchscreens and a hood less digital instrument cluster. It comes with ambient lighting with 64 colours and 10 levels of brightness. The rear seats can be folded to increase the cargo space to upto 1096 litres.

Other notable features include Hyundai Digital Key that can be used to lock and unlock the vehicle, activate the panic alert and start the engine and its climate control system from up to 90 feet away. With the Car-to-home feature, customers can control smart home appliances from the car. Further, the climate control system monitors air quality in the vehicle and purifies the air. Real-time air pollution levels are displayed on the Dual Automatic Temperature Control screen. Blue Link with features such as Remote Start with Climate Control, Remote Door Lock/Unlock, Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Destination Search by Voice will be offered complimentary for 3 years in select markets.

The Tucson will be offered with a range of powertrain options including a 2.5-litre petrol producing 187 BHP and 247 Nm and 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid or plug-in hybrid with 227 BHP and 350 Nm. All engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car comes with all-wheel drive with upto 7 driving modes - Eco, Comfort, Smart, Sport, Mud, Sand and Snow.

The fourth generation Tucson comes equipped with Hyundai SmartSense safety features which include Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Blind-Spot View Monitor, Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Surround View Monitor, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (RPCA), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW). It also comes with Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) Advanced Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go and Safe Exit Warning (SEW).

The new Tucson will go on sale in Korea in September 2021. The SUV will be launched in the US and other global markets in the first half of 2021.
