Maruti recently opened the bookings for the new Swift. The car is yet to be formally launched, but given the demand, there is already a waiting period for it. The tentative waiting period for both petrol and diesel variants of the new Swift is 6 to 8 weeks.

The third-gen Maruti Swift will be offered in 12 variants including 4 with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) automated manual transmission. According to the brochure, the top-spec Z+ trim gets 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, projector lamps with LED DRLs. The SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and voice command is also offered solely on the top-end Z+ trim. While steering mounted controls, engine start/stop with Smart Key and automatic climate control are offered on the Z and Z+ variants. In terms of safety features, Maruti offers ABS with EBD and brake assist along with dual front airbags and ISOFIX child safety seat anchorages as standard across all variants.

The new Swift comes with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 113 Nm @ 4,200 rpm, while the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit puts out 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. Both engines come paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automated manual transmission.

Maruti will officially launch the new Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo.
