All BPCL fuel pumps to be BS6 ready by March 1, 2020

According to a media report, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has claimed to offer BS6 fuel at all of its 14,800 fuel bunks from March 1, 2020.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), meanwhile has claimed that 15,000 of their over 27,000 outlets will be BS6 ready by March 1. The remainder are expected to be ready by mid-March.

The report suggests that oil companies have spent a combined Rs. 29,000 crore to upgrade facilities to change from BS4 to BS6 fuel. It is also reported that fuel prices could go up by Rs. 0.70-1.00 per litre.

The deadline for the registration of BS4 vehicles is March 31st. From April 1, 2020, only BS6 vehicles will be allowed for new registrations.
