Bentley Continental Supersports unveiled

Bentley has unveiled the Continental Supersports - its fastest and most powerful production model yet. It will be available as a coupe as well as a convertible.

The Continental Supersports is powered by a 6-litre, twin-turbo W12 engine that is rated at 700 BHP and develops a peak torque of 1,017 Nm. This engine is mated to a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels in a 40:60 rear bias.

In its coupe avatar, the Continental Supersports can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 336 km/h. Bentley claims that these acceleration figures make it the fastest luxury four-seat car in the world. Meanwhile, the soft-top Continental Supersports Convertible can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, before hitting its top speed of 330 km/h. The soft-top model is also being claimed as the fastest four-seat convertible in the world.

The Continental Supersports comes with 21-inch forged alloys that are wrapped with 275/35 profile tyres. It gets carbon ceramic brakes - 420 mm at the front and 356 mm at the rear. The car is equipped with air suspension to optimize performance and comfort, and also gets anti roll bars on both axles.

Bentley has also tried to cosmetically differentiate the Supersports from the regular Continental models. As a result, the high-performance variant gets newly sculpted front and rear bumper designs with a carbon-fibre splitter and diffuser, respectively. Other changes include new side sill extensions and bonnet vents that are finished in carbon-fibre, gloss-black front wing vents and a new gloss-black exhaust tailpipe design. The car also gets an optional rear spoiler and front splitter combination for the coupe, new Supersports badging, side decals, and a gloss-finished, Supersports-branded carbon-fibre engine cover.
