BEST depots to install charging points for private EV owners

BEST is planning to install charging stations for private electric vehicle (EV) owners at two of its depots in South Mumbai. According to a media report, BEST plans to setup EV charging facilities at its Worli and Backbay depots.

BEST currently operates 6 electric buses from these depots, where charging facilities have already been installed. Reports suggest that these could be extended to private vehicle owners. Private vehicles will be charged as per prices fixed by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Earlier this year, Tata Power opened EV charging points in Lower Parel and Kurla. The charging points are located at the Palladium Mall in Lower Parel and at Phoenix Marketcity in Kurla. In August 2017, the company inaugurated its first EV charging station in Mumbai at the Tata Power Receiving Station in Vikhroli.
