BMW drops 3.0L diesel from X3 range

The BMW X3 will no longer be available with a 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder engine. The German automaker has discontinued the top-end diesel variant from the X3 line-up. The SUV is thus now available only with 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol and diesel power plants.

The said 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder engine was earlier offered in the top-end M-Sport trim and was available in the xDrive 30d guise. The TwinPower Turbo diesel engine was rated at 255 BHP and 580 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters was the only transmission option available with this engine.

Post its discontinuation, a 1,995 cc, four-cylinder unit rated at 188 BHP and 400 Nm is the only diesel option available with the X3. Meanwhile, the petrol variants get a 1,997 cc, four-cylinder engine that churns out 241 BHP and 350 Nm of torque.
