BMW i4 gets new entry-level eDrive35 variant

Considering the i4 is on sale in India, BMW could bring in the new variant to our shores as well.

BMW has unveiled a new variant of the i4 electric sedan called the 'eDrive35'. The new BMW i4 eDrive35 will be positioned as the electric sedan's new entry-level variant, sitting below the eDrive40 and i4 M50 trims.

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 features a smaller battery pack, which translates to a reduced range and power output. The entry-level variant is powered by a 70.2 kWh battery pack (down from 83.9 kWh on the eDrive40) offering 490 km on a full charge (WLTP cycle). The single electric motor on the eDrive35 produces 281 BHP and 400 Nm. BMW claims that the eDrive35 is capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 km/h in 6 seconds. The car also comes with fast charging, allowing it to add 160 km of range in just 10 minutes using a 180 kW DC fast charger.

Apart from the electric powertrain, no other changes have been made. The i4 eDrive35 carries over the same styling and features as the rest of the line-up. The electric sedan comes packed with all the features and technology as well. This includes the BMW Curved Display, consisting of the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the iDrive8 interface.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 is currently available in Canada. It will be available in other international markets soon. Considering the i4 is on sale in India, BMW could bring in the new variant to our shores as well.
