Brazil-spec Renault Captur earns 4 stars from Latin NCAP

Latin NCAP has crash tested the Brazil-spec Renault Captur crossover, which has managed to earn a 4-star safety rating in adult occupant protection and 3 stars in child protection. The tested model came with standard safety features like four airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and seat belts with pretensioners at the front.

The bodyshell of the Captur was found to be stable in the frontal impact crash. The level of protection offered to the head and neck of the driver and passenger was rated good. Knee protection for both front seat occupants was also good, though the chest protection for the driver was found to be marginal. Performance of the electronic stability control (ESC) system met the regulatory norms.

Unlike the Europe-spec Captur that shares its platform with the Clio hatchback, the Brazilian model is based on the Duster's platform. Renault will launch also launch this crossover in India, though it will get a slightly different name - Kaptur. The India-spec model is expected to borrow a handful of components from the Brazil-spec Captur, while engine options on offer are expected to be borrowed from the Duster.
