Hyundai Elite i20 facelift - clearer spy shots surface

Hyundai is working on a mid-cycle update of the Elite i20 hatchback in India. Earlier spy shots of the updated model showcased only the nose and rear portion of the car. A new set of spy shots has now surfaced on the internet, that offers a clearer look at the facelifted hatchback. These new images also reveal that the Elite i20 facelift will come with disc brakes on all four wheels.

The photographed test mule is heavily camouflaged, both on the outside and inside. The front fascia is expected to get Hyundai's new family grille, which was recently added to the Grand i10 and Xcent facelifts. The front bumper and headlights will also receive some changes. The side profile and silhouette of the car will remain identical to the current model. However, the new spy shots reveal the presence of a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels that will be offered on the higher variants. The rear will feature new taillight clusters and a tweaked bumper, while the number plate housing will now be moved from the rear bumper to the centre of the tailgate.

The interiors of Elite i20 facelift aren't expected to get any structural changes to the dashboard layout. The car might get a new infotainment system with advanced connectivity options, though the same hasn't been confirmed yet.

No mechanical changes are likely to be made on the mid-cycle refresh. As a result, the hatchback will continue to be offered with the existing set of engines - a 1.2-litre petrol with a 5-speed manual, a 1.4-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual and a 1.4-litre petrol with a 4-speed automatic.
