Covid-19: Mahindra builds ventilator prototype in 48 hours

Mahindra has developed its first ventilator prototype in under 48 hours.

The automatic inflating ventilator prototype was built by engineers at Mahindra's Igatpuri and Kandivali factories. The team plans to build three more prototypes using feedback from experts. A more compact and lighter prototype is expected to be ready in the next few weeks. Once the prototype is approved, manufacturing could begin.

Mahindra has also partnered with two public sector units (PSUs) to simplify the design of high-spec ventilators and scale-up their production.

Earlier this week, Mahindra had announced that it would start manufacturing ventilators for Covid-19 patients. These are critical for the patients, as this disease affects the respiratory system.
