CS Santosh in induced coma after crash at Dakar 2021

Indian off-road and enduro motorcycle racer CS Santosh crashed in Stage 4 of the 2021 Dakar Rally.

Indian off-road and enduro motorcycle racer CS Santosh crashed in Stage 4 of the 2021 Dakar Rally. Now, according to a media report, the 37-year old biker has been put in an induced coma.

Santosh suffered an impact to his head, but was reported conscious and stable when the medics arrived at the scene. He was then transported to Riyadh for further investigation. It is reported that due to the impact on his helmet, he has a minor clot in the head. He is kept under observation for 24 hours.

Santosh started the Dakar Rally with a 43rd place finish in Stage 1. He had made good progress before the start of the Stage 4 and was placed 34th overall in the standings. CS Santosh races for the Hero MotorSports team.

The Dakar Rally has been conducted since 1979 and is an off-road endurance event. The conditions are much more difficult than other off-road rallies. The 2021 edition is being held in Saudi Arabia.
