Engine mounts on my Maruti Suzuki S-Cross broke after an impact

Sharing a recent experience with my 2016 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 1.3 Zeta

BHPian KAMALJHA recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

The incident:

Last week, while driving at around 40-50 kmph, I drove the front right wheel over a sewer cover (around 2 inch deep). I heard a sudden noise followed by a clanking sound when wheel rolled. The engine started sounding odd. I stopped and started the car again. The ignition sound was odd and the car wouldn't move. Upon inspection, I discovered the engine was tilted on one side. With a closer look, the engine had been dislodged from one of the (main) mount. All 3 bolts had the head broken.

I towed the car to nearest workshop. And I am now waiting for them, to start the work after reviewing with the insurance company.

Service history:

The car has always driven by me. And regular service done at Maruti workshops. With the last one done less than a month ago. I did not get any hint of mount/bolt issue. Neither the Service Advisor while doing test drive before / after the service.

I have brought it to MSIL's attention. Haven't herd back form them yet.

I think, I was fortunate as this was within city and at a reasonable speed. It could have resulted in a very serious accident.

It is deeply concerning that all three bolts on the same engine mount would fail at once.

Thought of sharing with you all.

Please share any experience and/or any suggestion / guidance.

Thanks,

Kamal
