Ertiga-based Toyota Rumion trademarked in India

The Toyota Rumion is essentially a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

Toyota recently unveiled the Rumion MPV for South Africa. It is essentially a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Now, according to a trademark filing, the MPV could be launched in India under the same name.

The Toyota Rumion looks identical to the Maruti Ertiga. It uses the same bodyshell with minor changes like a different grille with a Toyota badge. Even the alloy wheels have been carried over from the Ertiga.

The Rumion get a black interior with wooden trim. The 3-spoke steering wheel has been retained along with the touchscreen infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The South African version also gets automatic climate control and cooled cup-holders.

Under the bonnet is the familiar 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 103 BHP and 138 Nm and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
