Fiat Punto Evo T-Jet spied

Earlier this year, we had reported that Fiat was planning to launch a more powerful version of the Punto Evo. Now, Team Fiat Moto Club has posted images of the test mule of the hatchback with a T-Jet engine.

It is rumoured that this 1.4-litre turbocharged power plant produces more than 130 bhp and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Other features on the car include disc brakes on all wheels and 16-inch alloy wheels. The test mule has run 83,000 km till date and will undergo two more phases of testing.

The handling and ride of the Punto Evo have always been good. However, the weight of the car meant that it was not a very exciting when it came to performance. With the new engine, the car is expected to have the potential take on other hot hatches such as the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and to become a favourite among enthusiasts.

The Punto Evo T-Jet is likely to be launched during Diwali. Fiat is also expected to plonk the T-Jet engine in the Avventura crossover.
