Fire at Maruti's compressor vendor unit; production suspended

Maruti Suzuki has temporarily suspended production at its Manesar and Gurgaon plants. This production halt is a result of a massive fire that broke out at Subros Limited, which is responsible for manufacturing AC compressors for Maruti Suzuki cars. The fire has disrupted supply of components from the plant, forcing Maruti Suzuki to suspend production from the second half of May 30.

The fire was first noticed at 02:00 PM on Sunday, May 29. Flames soon started spreading across the factory complex, as multiple AC compressors exploded due to increasing heat levels. There hasn't been any official word from Subros Limited yet, but the fire is said to have damaged crores worth of property. One person was left injured due to the aforementioned fire, while there have been no casualities recorded.

Maruti Suzuki has officially commented that it will jointly assess the extent of damage with Subros Limited. The automaker is also looking out for alternate options to supply components, so that production can be resumed as soon as possible.
