Force Gurkha production stopped; BS6 Phase 2 update imminent

The new Gurkha with a BS6 Phase 2-complaint engine is expected to reach showrooms by May end.

Force Motors is gearing up to introduce the updated Gurkha with an RDE-compliant powertrain. The latest reports suggest that production of the BS6 version has been stopped.

As per a Delhi-based dealer, the new Gurkha with a BS6 Phase 2-complaint engine is expected to reach showrooms by May end. He also revealed that they had zero inventory and no cars for test drives either.

Coming to the specifics of the updated Gurkha shared by the Force Motors dealer, the SUV is expected to receive a significant performance boost. It will be offered with 18-inch wheels and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. He also stated that the old-school lever to engage 4x4 is expected to be replaced with a knob.

In its current avatar, the Gurkha packs a 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces 90 BHP and 250 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a four-wheel drive system with low range and a locking differential.

Force Motors is also working on a 5-door version of the Gurkha. However, there's no update regarding the launch of this version yet.
