Ford considering a return to F1 with Red Bull

The American car giant ran an F1 team from 2000 to 2004 under the Jaguar brand, which it owned at the time.

According to media reports, American car giant Ford is considering a possible return to Formula One in 2026. The return of the 'Blue Oval' brand to F1 is said to be due to the rising interest towards the sport in the United States and the multiple race venues scheduled in Texas, Miami and Las Vegas from 2023.

As per reports, Ford could tie up with Red Bull for their return to Formula One. However, unlike other brands like Porsche or Audi, Ford is said to have no interest in formal ownership of any team. Instead, Ford's involvement will be strictly limited to marketing and brand presence. Although while Red Bull will continue to remain in charge of all operations & technical development, there is a possibility Ford could offer some form of assistance in any area of expertise they have.

Ford left Formula One back in 2004. The American car giant ran an F1 team from 2000 to 2004 under the Jaguar brand - which it owned at the time. Ford also put its name on the Cosworth engines, which powered the Jordon F1 team in 2003 and 2004. The American brand sold the team to Red Bull after failing to achieve the level of success it had hoped for.
