Ford to reveal new Everest (Endeavour) on November 14

American automaker, Ford had displayed the new Everest concept at the Bangkok and Beijing Motor Shows earlier this year. Media reports now suggest that the production version of the car will be unveiled on November 14.

The Ford Everest SUV is known as the Endeavour in India. The SUV is based on the Ford Ranger pick-up truck and is expected to use the same body-on-frame construction with a seven seat layout. The front of the new Everest features an inverted trapezoid grille with swept back headlamps. Below, is a silver coloured skid plate that stretches along the width of the car and houses a pair of fog lamps at the ends. The tailgate of the car features a chrome strip that runs horizontally along the middle connects the tail lamp clusters. The spare wheel has been placed below the car rather on the tailgate.

An image of snapped in China revealed that the interior of the SUV is completely restyled with a new multifunction steering wheel a redesigned modern-looking dashboard, centre console with a new audio system and redesigned controls for the air-conditioning and round air vents at the extreme ends of the dashboard. The design of the centre tunnel has been changed as well and the gear lever for the automatic transmission is now shorter than before and has a cup holder to its left unlike the old car which had one in front of the lever.

Engine options are likely to include 2.2-litre and 3-litre diesel units with automatic and manual transmissions. The vehicle is expected to be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.

While the 2015 Ford Everest has been designed and developed in Australia, it is likely to be built in Thailand for ASEAN and global markets. In India, like the current model, Ford is expected to assemble it locally to keep costs in check. The SUV will be pitted against the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
