Honda WR-V launched in India at Rs. 7.75 lakh

The Honda WR-V has been launched in India at prices starting from Rs. 7.75 lakh for the petrol version and Rs. 8.79 lakh for the diesel. It will be available in two variants only - S and VX.

The WR-V is a cross hatch derived from the Jazz. It is powered by the same engine options that are found in the hatchback. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit develops 99 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. It is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and has a company claimed fuel economy of 25.5 km/l. Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 89 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque @ 4,800 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and has a claimed fuel economy of 17.5 km/l.

Honda has made some updates to the design of the WR-V to differentiate it from the Jazz. It gets a new front fascia, which includes a vertical nose, new bumper, wider front grille and completely redesigned headlamps with standard LED DRLs. The car also comes with larger 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a new tailgate and black plastic cladding on the wheel arches and lower body panels. The WR-V is available with 6 colour options - Modern Steel, Alabaster Silver, Carnelian Red, Golden Brown, White Orchid and the new shade of Premium Amber.

On the inside, the WR-V borrows its dashboard layout from the Jazz. However, the cross hatch gets a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is the same unit that is found in the recently launched City facelift. Called the Digipad, this infotainment system features satellite-linked navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth telephony, a 1.5 GB internal memory, 2 USB slots, 2 Micro-SD slots and an HDMI port. The system also comes with MirrorLink connectivity.

The interior upholstery is available in two colour options - black & bluish grey and black & silver. Features like electronic sunroof and touch-based climate control system are available only on the top-end VX variant. The WR-V gets dual airbags and ABS as standard features across the range. The diesel VX also comes with cruise control and push button start/stop.
