How an OTA update fixed 2 niggling issues on my Scorpio-N

After the update I have driven around 800 km but above mentioned issues have not reoccurred.

BHPian theCoder recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Quote from BHPian manishk83:

1. A yellow ‘tilted car’ warning symbol (within two concentric circles) on the MID (I checked whether I mis-intentionally engaged Hill Descent Control or anything else - I did not) - and I had parked on a flat surface.
2. The car showing ‘Error’ where ‘Kms travelled’ should have been showing.

I faced these issues in my 5 month old Scorpio N D AT 2WD driven around 3600 km.

I was on my way to Sindhudurg via Anuskura ghat. After I descended from ghat section suddenly below 2 symbols appeared on the dashboard.

I parked the car at side of road and checked the meanings of these symbols.

1. The exclamation mark in circle meant malfunction in AT system
2. The tilted car in circle meant malfunction in Hill Hold Control system

Thanks to this post and replies I just shut down the engine and restarted it. And both the symbols disappeared. I waited for couple of min to see if they reappear and they didn't so drove off.

I then took a stop at Kudal for maybe 10 min and when I started the engine, all the symbols on dashboard lit up. I again restarted the engine and then MID as well as infotainment screen was just blank even the tachometer needle was at resting position. I revved the engine but still no movement of tachometer. I again restarted the engine and this time MID was started but it was showing 'Error' at km reading and HHC malfunction symbol was again lit up. I again restarted then engine and this time all went back to normal and I went on my way.

This issue of 'Error' at km reading and HHC symbol has occurred 2-3 times in next 1000 km running. And every time restarting the engine has resolved the issue. All this while there has been no mechanical issue and car runs just fine.

I did not take the vehicle to ASC as I was waiting for software update and hoping that if these are indeed bugs and might be resolved in the update.

One day I got the pop up on infotainment screen that update was available and I accepted it. The update process took nearly 40 min and the process involved lighting up all symbols on dashboard, screens getting blank, restarting screens multiple times, status bar getting stuck in same position as seen below making me wonder if something has gone wrong and what to do if it has. But thankfully after 40 min I got the message that update was successful.

After the update I have driven around 800 km but above mentioned issues have not reoccurred. I have another trip planned via Anuskura ghat will check if same issues reappear. Will take it to ASC this time if they do.
