Hyundai Genesis makes an appearance in Chennai

The Hyundai Genesis sedan has been spotted in Chennai with a regular registration plate. Hyundai Motor India's factory is situated in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.

Hyundai's rival to the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class measures 4,990 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,480 mm in height. Powering the car, is powered is a 3.8-litre, V6 petrol engine that develops 311 bhp and 397 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the car comes in a rea-wheel drive configuration. In international markets, a 5.0-litre V8 with 420 bhp and 519 Nm of torque and all-wheel drive is also available.

Hyundai has equipped the Genesis with a host of features including dual automatic climate control, 12-way power adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, leather upholstery, integrated memory system for driver's seat, ORVMs and steering column, multi-function steering wheel, paddle shifters for the transmission, touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth hands-free telephone, navigation and engine start/stop button. On the safety front, the car gets features such as ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, nine airbags and rear view camera among others.

Earlier this month, Hyundai showcased the Genesis sedan at the Autocar Performance Show in Mumbai to gauge the response of the visitors to the show. If the response was to the company's satisfaction, it would consider launching the car in the country.
