Hyundai to launch i20 Active on March 18

Hyundai has announced that it will launch the i20 Active in India on March 18, 2015.

The i20 Active is a pseudo SUV based on the Elite i20 hatchback. It has been designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany.

Hyundai has tried to make it look rugged with some cosmetic changes. These alterations include a black plastic cladding around the skirting and bumpers, silver roof rails, redesigned alloy wheels, a new exterior paint shade and circular fog lamps at the front and back. The car also gets a restyled grille and increased ground clearance. Other features include projector headlamps, silver front and rear skid plates, a rear spoiler and the thick eyebrows above the headlamps.

On the inside, the dashboard of the i20 Active is likely to be given a different shade than that of the Elite. Hyundai has not revealed any details about the engines and transmissions it plans to use in the car.

The i20 Active will be Hyundai's rival for other pseudo SUVs such as the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Liva Cross and Fiat Avventura.
