Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the GLB and its all-electric version, the EQB in India. Both models will be imported from Mexico as CBUs.

Pre-bookings for new SUVs are already open, and customers can place their orders by paying a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. Prices will be announced on December 2, 2022.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB is a compact 7-seater SUV that is often referred to as the “mini GLS”. It will be offered in three variants – 220d 4Matic, 220d and 200.

The 220d variants are powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 188 BHP and 400 Nm. The GLB 200 comes with a 1.3-litre petrol engine that puts out 161 BHP and 250 Nm. Both engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will be available on the top-spec diesel trim.

The EQB is the all-electric version of the GLB. In the international market, the SUV comes in two dual-motor variants: 300 4Matic with 225 BHP and 350 4Matic with 288 BHP. The car is said to have a maximum range of 419 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).
