Well, this is my first post on teambhp. I had always been a fan of electric vehicles and had all my eyes set for having an electric vehicle as my first car. It all started a decade-and-a-half ago when I set foot in Bengaluru and I could see 100s of Reva cars plying on erstwhile Bangalore roads. Though much smaller than a auto-rikshaw, yet can accommodate 4 with just 2 doors. For a city commute of 60Km/charge/day it made sense. Later Mahindra took over Reva's operations got it converted to E2O with some design cues from DC(Dilip Chabria) and made it 4 door if I am not wrong and realistic range around ~80Km/charge. I was looking for a small EV car which is good enough for city, accommodate 2 adults and easy to drive(no gear shifting) and at the same time should drive min 400KM/Charge to my home town.
Later came bunch of EVs from Hyundai, Tata, MG which took industry by storm not just in terms of range but also in terms of performance. pure torque through out the rev band and pin-drop silence inside cabin had all my ears ringing.
For my pure love of EV - Pure love because it is pure-energy at disposal, I also had vague copy-cat thought of creating altogether another forum by domain teamkw.co.in just to make teambhp sound lame as kw(read electric power) is what is going to be the future than bhp(fossil power).
All the while I kept postponing buying EV till I get a car in the market with a realistic range of 500Km/charge which ment higher battery rating in Ah which translates in to large battery packs which essentially meant car to be big too to accommodate the larger battery pack. when it comes to EV it is better to pick lesser of the evils(not to mention fire mis-haps associated with fast charging)
It seems fate had other plans for me when my love for EV took a beating when i saw this little but tall, cute but capable jimny doing rounds in Bengaluru. Though bigger than Reva but stilla 4-seater. It is like that thunderbolt moment as in "God Father" novel. Got struck by it the more I saw it. My fiddling to have a EV car gradually took beating but not enough to trudge me in to the path of laying my hands on Jimny as it was not budget friendly.
Then came the offers in July'24 for Jimny to the tune of 3.5L which finally drove the last nail into my EV-car-owing-dream's coffin.
Have driven Zeta-AT variant ~3900Kms in a matter of around 3 months. Dare I say that am in love with the car. I can't express it but can feel it.
To the extent that my love towards the car have further driven me to get her some necessary embellishments(read what it lacks) which it requires.
Got Gan-Ga tuner imported to India from Germany(https://www.gantuning.com). I didn't opt for throttle controller as I felt Tuner which promises improvement both in Hp and Nm to be a better deal-breaker than throttle controller with cost for both coming in the same ball-bark region of 18K to 20K. I got the tuner for around 23K including customs+gst.
Will Post a review about GAN-GA's impact on Jimny's performance after driving the car for ~120KM since its installation. what I can say right away since I have driven around couple of KMs since installation is that it does seem to improve throttle response. But mid-band power delivery improvement is yet to be ascertained and I have to take it on good free stretches.
As closing comment I am leaving with a video link of GAN-GA installation in Jimny
P.S. I had planned to install LED cabin lights, gan-ga tuner, Grill Lights on the same day. While replacing ceiling LED light(DOME light in Suzuki's Manual) it got shorted inspite of key being removed. I bit my tongue for purchasing a cheap LED available in Amazon which resulted in this. Downside of the blown dome fuse(number 16 and 17) is that remote locking/un-locking stopped working and power was not available on ODB-2 Port. After replacing 10A spare fuse in Fuse-No-17. Got all 3 working.
