Jeep Compass Trailhawk showcased at private event

The upcoming Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been showcased at a private event, which indicates that its launch could be nearing. According to media reports, dealerships have started accepting bookings for the car.

Spy images of the India-spec Trailhawk suggest that the SUV will get a dual-tone exterior with a blacked-out roof and ORVMs, dual-tone bumpers with red tow hooks and skid plates, black grille, a black decal on the bonnet and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The interiors will be similar to the standard Compass apart from additions like red trim around the gear lever and all-weather floor mats.

The Compass Trailhawk will be powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine offered in the regular Compass. This engine puts out 172 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. However, unlike the standard model which comes with the option of a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Compass Trailhawk might be offered with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The Trailhawk will sit at the top of the Compass range and is unlikely to get a petrol engine option.

The Trailhawk gets a Selec-Terrain 4WD system. The system comes equipped with low-range and a 'Rock mode' as well as hill descent control. It also has a different suspension which is 20 mm higher than the standard Compass.
