Jeep Grand Commander 7-seater SUV spied in India

Codenamed H6, the new model is expected to take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, when it arrives sometime around mid-2022.

The Jeep Grand Commander 7-seater SUV has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Codenamed H6, the new model is expected to take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, when it arrives sometime around mid-2022.

We have already seen multiple leaked images and a couple of teaser videos of the Grand Commander. Its styling is heavily inspired by the Compass and gets a more upright front fascia featuring a 7-slat grille. However, the slim tail lamp clusters at the rear look quite different.

The Grand Commander will be offered with 3-rows of seats. It could also come in a 6-seater configuration with separate captain seats in the second row. The cabin is likely to be similarly equipped to the new Compass but with a slightly premium touch. It could get features such as a large touchscreen infotainment head-unit, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and wireless charging among others.

In India, the Grand Commander could be offered with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the Compass. However, in this car, it could be tuned to produce slightly more power. A 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission is likely to be on offer along with all-wheel drive.
