An undisguised test mule of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been spotted near Pune undergoing ARAI homologation tests. The car was an Overland variant and a part of a three-car convoy, consisting of two hardtop Wranglers and a Rubicon variant.

The 3-door Wrangler Overland features an updated 7-slat grille flanked by circular LED headlights, while LED fog lamps are placed on the front bumper. The rear of the car features LED tail lights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The headlights and LED DRLs are switched on when the car is unlocked. The high-mounted stop lamp is integrated into the spare wheel stand and a retractable antenna is positioned on the right, just ahead of the door. The car also features a rear view camera with 6 parking sensors at the front and 4 at the rear.

The test vehicle is reported to have had black interiors with leather seats, a white roof liner and featured a roll cage with plastic cladding under the hard top. It was also equipped with an automatic transmission. The spy images suggest that the India-spec Wrangler might be offered with Bridgestone Dueler HT tyres.

Powertrain options for the India-spec Wrangler are unknown. In the US market, the car is offered with four engine options. These include a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol producing 270 BHP and 400 Nm of torque, a 3.6-litre, V6 petrol with 285 BHP and 353 Nm of torque, a 2,2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel making 197 BHP and 450 Nm of torque and a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel developing 240 BHP and 570 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic. All-wheel drive along with a 2-speed transfer case is offered as standard. The Rubicon variants get heavy-duty axles and locking differentials.
