The Carens Diesel iMT could be offered with a 1.4L engine paired with a 6-speed iMT.

The Kia Carens will soon receive updated engines to comply with the new RDE emission norms. Besides the engines, the carmaker is also likely to introduce new variants to the Carens lineup.

According to leaked type approval certificates, the Carens could be offered in a Diesel iMT trim. This variant will use the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 114 BHP and is expected to be paired with a 6-speed iMT.

The Carens could also get new entry-level 5-seater petrol and diesel variants. As per the document, these could be called M-Drive and P-Drive, respectively. The P-Drive is expected to be positioned below the Premium trim and could be offered in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.

At present, the Carens is available with three engine options. These include a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 113 BHP and 144 Nm, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 138 BHP and 242 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel that puts out 113 BHP and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
