Made-in-India VW Virtus scores 5-stars in Latin NCAP crash test

The Virtus scored 36.94 points for adult occupation protection and 45 points for child occupant safety.

The made-in-India Volkswagen Virtus has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Latin-NCAP. The car scored 36.94 points for adult occupation protection and 45 points for child occupant safety.

In the frontal impact test, the car offered good protection to the driver and passenger's head and neck. The driver's chest showed adequate protection and the passenger's chest showed good protection. Driver and passenger's knees showed good protection. The driver's tibias and the passenger's left tibia showed adequate protection while the passenger's right tibia showed good protection.

The head, abdomen and pelvis of the driver and passenger were well protected in the side impact test, while chest protection was rated as adequate. The car offered good protection to the head, abdomen and pelvis, but marginal chest protection in the side pole impact test.

The child seat for the 3-year-old dummy was capable of preventing head exposure and offered good protection. The child restraint systems offered full protection in the side impact test.

The test car was equipped with frontal, side head and side chest airbags, seat belt pre-tensioner and load limiter, ISOFIX, ESC and Speed Assist. The car scored 25.48 points for pedestrian protection.
