Mahindra to launch electric Verito, Maxximo in Q1 of 2016

Mahindra is likely to launch electric versions of the Verito sedan and Maxximo in the first quarter of 2016.

Both cars are likely to use uprated versions of the power train from the Mahindra Reva E2O electric car. The company is in talks with taxi aggregators for the inclusion of these vehicles in their fleets.

The electric Verito was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2012 and 2014. The displayed car had a claimed maximum range of 80 km and a top speed of 85 kph. Its batteries could be changed fully in seven hours.

Earlier this year, Mahindra delivered four units of the electric Maxximo van to the Agra Development Authority for use along the Taj Zero Emission Corridor. It has 8 seats, a claimed range of 100 km on a single charge and an electronically limited top speed of 65 kph.

With the rising levels of pollution leading to the Supreme Court asking cab aggregators to move away from diesel vehicles, Mahindra will be hoping that its electric offerings will be accepted in the taxi market.
