Maruti Suzuki has issued a service bulletin to rectify a steering vibration and wobbling issue on the Jimny.
There have been multiple reports from Jimny owners of excessive steering vibrations and wobbling when braking at speeds of around 80 km/h. Taking heed of customer complaints, Maruti Suzuki has decided to issue a service action that covers almost all units of the Jimny SUVs sold in India.
It is said that the so-called “Jimny death wobble” is due to disc wear caused by a faulty king pin set. To fix the issue, Maruti Suzuki will be replacing key brake components. The carmaker will contact owners of the affected vehicles to replace the king pin sets free of cost.
The front brake discs will also be inspected, and if required, they too will be replaced. It is said that the front brake rotors may develop premature warping / run-out, as the dynamic imbalance created by the faulty king pin assembly puts more load on the brakes, particularly under hard braking, leading to the front discs getting out of shape.
