Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu vehicle scrapping unit opens in Noida

The facility has a capacity to scrap 2,000 vehicles per month. It takes 200 minutes to recycle one vehicle completely.

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Tsusho Group have set up a vehicle scrapping and recycling facility in Noida. The plant was recently inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu India Pvt. Ltd. (MSTI) is spread across 10,993 sq. mt. and has been built with an investment of Rs. 44 crore. The facility has a capacity to scrap 2,000 vehicles per month. It takes about 200 minutes to recycle one vehicle completely.

The MSTI facility uses domestically sourced machinery. It follows all environmental guidelines and even has the equipment to scan for radioactive materials. The facility can recover up to 95% of scrap, which will be sold to authorized recyclers.

MSTI is the first government-approved scrapping facility for end-of-life vehicles. The government plans to set up at least 200-300 such units over the next 2 years across the country.

Vehicle scrapping units like these are the backbone of the government's scrappage policy.
