McLaren might be working on a super SUV; Expected in 2028

There are also unconfirmed reports of a sedan being under development.

According to media reports, during the recent McLaren global dealer meeting, big news regarding a new hybrid hypercar, followed by a four-door, four-seat model was announced.

Reports state that anonymous dealer representatives confirmed that a new hybrid hypercar will arrive in 2026. It will be the successor to the McLaren P1, making it the brand's flagship model and part of McLaren's Ultimate Series, which currently includes the likes of the Senna, Speedtail and Elva. Reports further suggested that the new hypercar will feature a hybrid system 70% lighter than the current and will create considerably more power.

McLaren is also said to have mentioned something about a "new class" of vehicles with four doors and four seats for 2028. Reports state that considering company CEO Micheal Leiters' fondness for SUVs and his experience with the Porsche Cayenne and Ferrari Purosangue, the new model could be a super SUV from the British supercar brand. However, no details were mentioned, apart from speculations that McLaren has already started working on an SUV.
