Mercedes-Benz revealed the GLE-Class SUV (M-Class successor) in March this year. It looks like the German automaker isn’t looking to waste any time in bringing it to India as two units of the GLE 350d 4MATIC have just been imported for homologation according to Zauba.

Apart from falling in line with the new Mercedes-Benz model nomenclature, the GLE shares its look with other models like the C and S-Class.

Internationally, the GLE is offered with a total of 5 engine options, featuring four, six or eight cylinders. India however, will mainly a the market for the diesels i.e. the GLE 250 d/250 d 4MATIC (2.1L, 4 cylinder turbo-diesel that makes 201 BHP and 480 Nm of torque) and GLE 350 d 4MATIC (3.0L, V6 turbo-diesel that makes 255 BHP and 620 Nm of torque). For now, only the more powerful GLE 350 d has been imported.

In all likelihood, the AMG models will be brought in as well, though it remains to be seen if Mercedes-Benz India offers both models or only the top end GLE 63 AMG S.
