Mercedes-Benz launches GLB and EQB electric SUV in India

The EQB is powered by a 66.5 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 388-423 km.

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its 7-seater SUV line-up by introducing two new models – the GLB and the all-electric EQB. The former is available in three variants with prices starting at Rs. 63.80 lakh, while the EV comes in a single EQB 300 4Matic trim priced at Rs. 74.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz GLB:

The GLB is a 7-seater SUV, offering two additional individual seats in the third row. It is often referred to as the “mini GLS”, and is available in three variants with two engine options.

The GLB 220d variants are powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 188 BHP @ 3,800 rpm and 400 Nm @ 1,600-2,600 rpm. The GLB 200 comes with a 1.3-litre petrol engine that puts out 161 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,620-4,000 rpm.

The petrol engine is offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the diesel gets an 8-speed dual-clutch unit and optional all-wheel drive.

EQB 300 4Matic:

The EQB is the all-electric version of the GLB. It shares the same body shell but features a unique front fascia inspired by the brand’s EQ range of EVs.

The EQB 300 4Matic uses a dual-motor setup with a peak output of 225 BHP and 390 Nm. Mercedes claims that the SUV can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h.

The EQB is powered by a 66.5 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 388-423 km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge. The car comes with an 11 kW AC charger, but the battery can also be recharged from 10-80% using a 100 kW DC fast-charger in 32 minutes.
