MG Hector gets a 2.0L Hybrid powertrain in Indonesia

The Wuling Almaz Hybrid costs about Rs 25 lakh in the Indonesian market.

China-based Wuling has launched the Almaz hybrid in the Indonesian market. The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid and costs approximately Rs 25 lakh.

The Wuling Almaz is a rebadged MG Hector. The hybrid version gets the familiar brand-specific front fascia albeit with blue accents. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that develops 121 BHP and 168 Nm. The engine is mated to an electric motor producing 172 BHP and 320 Nm.

The Almaz hybrid comes with a 1.8 kWh battery pack and is equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that drives the front wheels. The car has three driving modes – EV Mode, Series Hybrid and Parallel Hybrid. In Series Hybrid mode, the engine is used to charge the battery, while the electric motor powers the vehicle, while both the engine and e-motor are used to power the SUV in Parallel Hybrid mode.

MG is gearing up to launch the Hector facelift in India. The new version will carry forward the same 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine along with the conventional 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel units.
