MG Motor India's statement on Astor delivery schedule

MG aims to deliver 5,000 units of the Astor by end-2021. The company will offer price protection in case of delays.

Deliveries of the MG Astor have been affected by the ongoing chip shortage. Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, has now released a statement regarding the delivery schedule of the Astor.

According to Gaurav Gupta, the supply of semiconductors is uncertain and dynamic. Components are being sourced from suppliers on a weekly schedule, which sometimes gets altered, forcing the company to change its production plans.

The MG Astor was launched on October 11. The SUV is available in five variants - Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The carmaker aims to deliver the first batch of 5,000 units before the end of this year. However, if deliveries get delayed, these customers will receive price protection.

The MG Astor is available with two engine options. These include a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 138 BHP and 230 Nm and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated motor that puts out 109 BHP and 144 Nm. The former is available with an automatic transmission, while the 1.5-litre engine comes with the option of a manual and CVT.

The top-spec Savvy trim comes equipped with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention and Speed Assist.
