MG patents Baojun Yep EV in India

The Baojun Yep shares its underpinnings with the MG Comet EV.

MG has filed a design patent for the Baojun Yep in India. Reports suggest that it could be introduced in the Indian market around H2-2025.

The Baojun Yep is an all-electric micro-SUV that was recently unveiled in China. It is based on the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, which also underpins the MG Comet EV.

No points for guessing where the inspiration for the design comes from. As you can see, there are quite a few similarities between the Yep and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. This 3-door EV has an upright front fascia with funky headlights, flared wheel arches and chunky bumpers.

The Baojun Yep is powered by a 28.1 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It generates 67 BHP and 140 Nm and is said to have a maximum range of 303 km (CLTC).
