Mitsubishi Montero returning to India, bookings open

Mitsubishi Motors India is planning to re-launch the Montero SUV in the near future. These plans have been indicated by recent newspaper advertisements of the Pajero Sport, which mentions, "Montero Now in India, Bookings Open". Additionally, the Montero SUV has also been listed on Mitsubishi India's official website, with a 'Bookings Open' tag.

Interestingly, Uttam Bose, MD of Hindustan Motor Financial Corporation Ltd (HMFCL), had mentioned last year about Mitsubishi's plans to re-launch the Montero and Outlander SUVs in 2016, while the next-gen Pajero Sport would be released in 2017. HMFCL is responsible for all manufacturing and marketing operations of Mitsubishi in India.

According to Mitsubishi India's official website, the Montero will come with a 3.2-litre diesel engine that will be able to generate 189 BHP @ 3,800 rpm and a peak torque of 441 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox, which will send power to all four wheels.
