My 2023 Duke 390 goes in for 1st service: Overall costs & issues solved

First service costed 1,900/- which I felt was reasonable. After the first service, engine and gearbox feel a lot smoother.

Hi folks, writing an update after almost a month delay thanks to my laziness . So on 3rd Feb my bike went for its first service. 2 issues that I highlighted:

  1. Hardness in ignition while locking. Solution- service centre guys sprayed WD 40 after which issue is sorted.
  2. Handle making a clicking sound when turning to the left. Turns out, one of the cables is loose and rubbing against a fibre plate bolted to the chassis. Solution- service centre guys have secured the cable with a zip tie (photo attached for reference. Secured cable circled in red and plate circled in blue). Both, 390 and 250 gen 3 have this issue so owners, please take note.

First service costed 1,900/- which I felt reasonable. After the first service, engine and gearbox feel a lot smoother. Heat management is really good although with the summer setting in you might feel more of it on your feet.

Later on 23rd, I visited the workshop again to load the accessories which I ordered online. Following is the list

Purchased from Motodrift, Bangalore:

Purchased from Zana

Purchased from Amazon

In addition to these, I also fitted rider foot pegs from the Adv 390 on my friend’s recommendation who had also accompanied me. Final cost for everything was 1,400/- (600 for accessories and 800 for the foot pegs). Below are the final looks.

Had done a 60 km ride once. In case you are planning to get knee guards, be extra careful as they brush against the tank extensions causing scratches. When I had gone for accessories fitting, I managed to get them removed after rubbing petrol. However, it’s not fully gone. Yet to do a proper longish ride. Heading to MP this Saturday for Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar Darshan. Will be back on Friday 22nd March. Planning to start longish rides once I’m back.
