New Mahindra Scorpio Automatic spied testing

When Mahindra introduced the new Scorpio last month, it did so with only a 5-speed manual transmission. Those expecting an automatic gearbox were left disappointed. However, now it seems like there is an automatic variant of the SUV on its way. Back in January this year, we had reported that the company was testing an automatic variant of the SUV and now, a couple of test mules of the car have been spotted on the Delhi-Gurgaon highway.

Like the old Scorpio automatic, the new one is also likely to be based on the top end variant (S10). It will use the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that puts out 120 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque @ 1800-2800 rpm. Again like the old Scorpio automatic, the new model is likely to use a 6-speed Bosch-sourced transmission.

While Mahindra has not disclosed any details regarding the launch of the new Scorpio automatic, we expect it to be launch sometime in 2015.
